Endangered gorillas, our close relatives, keep reminding us that if we do not save them from imminent extinction, we may forever lose this unique chance to gain more knowledge about evolution of life on Earth.
No one who looks into a gorilla's eyes - intelligent, gentle, vulnerable - can remain unchanged, for the gap between ape and human vanishes; we know that the gorilla still lives within us. George Schaller
First of all, we should care about these animals because of ethical considerations.…

Introduction to Environmental Pollution
Although pollution had been known to exist for a very long time (at least since people started using fire thousands of years ago), it had seen the growth of truly global proportions only since the onset of the industrial revolution during the 19th century.
It’s interesting to note that natural resources had been stored virtually untouched in the Earth for millions of years. But since the start of the industrial revolution vast amounts…

In our homes, offices, schools, markets...everywhere we are using all kind of electronic gadgets and equipments, life without them is now beyond our imaginations but when they get old or damaged we discard or upgrade them immediately without thinking twice, where is it going anyway from here and what it going to cause to us?

From coastal swamps to inland floodplains, the Earth has lost over half of its area under wetlands in the last 100 years.
A primary cause behind the loss of this giver of life is the draining or filling for human settlements and agriculture.
Draining of agricultural residue and Industrial wastes into the wetlands also took a huge toll, leading to their decline.
It was during the first half of the twentieth century that we have witnesses the maximum damage especially in the northern hemisphere…

Towards a step to save ‘Vultures’:
India, which has lost 99 per cent of the four-crore population of vultures in the last three decades and continues to witness the decline of the existing ones at the rate of 40 per cent annually, have stepped forward by the ‘customary’ observance of the World Vulture Awareness Day. In an effort to conserve the few remaining vultures in Punjab, a ‘restaurant for vultures’ - the first of its kind in the state – was started on October 12 to provide safe fo…

Environmental Pollutants can cause anything and everything - i.e.diseases, including cancer, lupus, immune diseases, allergies, and asthma. Higher levels of background radiation have led to an increased incidence of cancer and mortality associated with it worldwide. Some illnesses are named for the places where specific pollutants were first formally implicated. One example is Minamata disease, which is caused by mercury compounds.
Bad air quality can kill. Ozone pollution can cause sore throat…

The harm which has to be done is already done lets not waste time in thinking of solutions.lets stop avoiding the causes of G.W.
Mark Twain might as well have been talking about global warming when he famously remarked, "Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody ever does anything about it." For years we have heard so much about the causes of climate change, that we’ve missed the fact that there are simple, practical solutions that can slow this growing problem. Technologies exist today that…

In just two decades from 1991, an estimated 50% of fresh water wetlands have been lost. These life giver sponges of the earth are disappearing at a rate of 2% to 3% every year.
They are known for a range of services, notably livelihood support , water security, flood prevention, and sustenance of bio diversity.
Yet they remain badly neglected and plundered.
Clearly, actionable rules are vital to stop the life-sapping influx of sewage, industrial waste, pesticides, building debris, and urban so…

hi to all.
actually i m pissed of d idea of banning platics n using paper bag. plastics r hazardous bt at d same time if we start using paperbags it'll need more paper making material dat comes frm trees n more trees will be cut. so ultimately it's loss of trees.
plastics r future prospects ya but at d same time we should concentrate on diminishing the toxic effect of plastic n we should opt for biodegradable polymers although the manufacturing of these polymers are expensive but it should be pr…

Hello Everyone n a very happy diwali,
Diwali is the festival of lights celebrated on the day Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya. Earlier the joy of this festival was symbolised by firing a few crakers, but today it has become the day to fire large amounts of crakers. The definition of one of the most important festivals of India has completely changed. In earlier times the sake of firing few crakers used to be the purification of the environment from the microorganisms which develop in rainy season. b…
