Trees versus The Commonwealth Games

The Times of India carried a small blurb on its front page this Sunday (29th march 2009). It reported that another 1055 trees have been marked to be hacked and removed from the Lodhi Colony area. Next to Varun Gandhi being arrested this was small news. THAT is the irony of it all. Lost between dirty politics and Bollywood drama, that makes entertaining read and more exciting news, the city of Delhi is being slowly murdered.

All over the world cities are trying to make greener avenues, roads tha… Continue

This earth has given us so many things ,but now our earth is in trouble & we've got to save it .
WHAT WE CAN DO TO HELP OUR EARTH?
-Turn off lights.
-Turn off other electric things, like TVs, stereos, and radios when not in use.
-Use rechargable batteries.
-Do things manually instead of electrically, like open cans by hand.
-Use fans instead of air conditioners.
-In winter, wear a sweater instead of turning up your thermostat.
-Insulate your home so you won't be cold in winter.
-Use less hot water.
-Whenever possible, use a bus or subway, or ride your bike or walk.
-Try to buy organic fruits and vegetables if you're concerned about pesticides. (Organic food is grown without man-made fertilizers and/or pesticides).
-Don't waste products made from forest materials.
-Use recycled paper and/or recycle it. Reuse old papers.
-Don't buy products that may have been made at the expense of the rainforest.
-Support products that are harvested from the rainforest but have not cut down trees to get it.
-Plant trees, espessially if you have cut one down.
-Get other people to help you in your cause. Make and/or join an organization.
-Avoid products that are used once, then thrown away.
-Buy products with little or no packaging.
-Encourage your grocery store sell environmentally friendly cloth bags for people to use when they shop, or bring your own.
-REDUCE, REUSE, & RECYCLE.
-Compost.
-Buy recycled products.
-Don't buy pets taken from the wild.
-If you have a good zoo nearby, (if the animals are healthy and the zoo takes care of them), support it! Espessially if they help breed endangered animals.
-Don't buy products if animals were killed to make it.
-Cut up your six-pack rings before throwing them out. What we can do?
Frnds Pls spread this msg to your other frds___

Exhibit of wild animals in Advertisements

In India many advertisers use wild animals on national TV to enthuse the audience. Is it not a crime? The use of animal gives a wrong signal to the viewers who consider animals to be for the entertainment of the masses. Already we are seeing a uncontrollable perilous environmental degradation from all quarters. Is it not high time that the govt curb the usage of animals in advt.

my son's interest in environment

It is very heartening to see enthusiastic parents like you who want to imbibe love for nature in their child.
As a child I think Salman can learn about the flora and fauna ( avian ) in and around his environment and in out country.
Once he starts learning, he will start appreciating the beauty of nature. As he grows old he will understand the environmental degradation caused by the greed of humans. Hopefully he will guide other youngsters to appreciate the beauty of nature.

The need of the hour…
