2nd Nov., 2008 – 3rd chat. Topic on DD : Mangrove forests – importance, destruction & disaster. Some part was lost & some part has been edited as the discussion is looking so huge, people might think before reading it. Required inputs from all the readers/ editors/ operators to improve this group.

• Plants are now familiar with each other. Discussion started with increase in that familiarity.
• Dams/ reservoirs are major constructions which are disturbing the nature’s processes.
• Debadityo visited wetland near Badarpur. He met with a few people, took their opinion, tried to convince them about the ill-effects of disturbing wetlands. Discussing about it & visiting are different things. Everybody came to know a lot about about the situation due to Debo’s visit. Debo, please summarise & put the main points of your visit on the group.

no ... actually what i get tro know is that, in 80s when the thermal power station was built, peope came there to reside, and the locality was expanding... soem ppl bought land, and some encroached it...

26th Oct., 2008 – 2nd chat. Topic on DD – Climate change.

• Discussion started on Climate change.
• Efforts which we can do like motivating people, telling about the good things of environment, conservation, etc.
• Wetlands, their uses and need of conservation. E.g. – wetland near Badarpur in Delhi. Debadityo created a group on EMF after that. Article on wetlands is available on that.
• Discussion was not saved on that day, request to conservationists who were their in that session to upload the missed out points.

19th Oct., 2008 - This was the 1st common chat discussion between some of the environment loving ‘humans’ in the common platform of EMF. I wasn’t able to save the complete discussion, but some part of the chat was saved by me. The key points of discussion were:
• Project on Elephant conservation by Mr. Mike Pandey. It is near near Tilari Dam...45 mins from Panjim...Sawant wadi

Sohil - Hands for Trees was a campaign to plant trees in and around Delhi. To get people to participate. Earth Matters Foundation would help in the initial planting of trees in colonies/schools/colleges etc

Hey Amogh,similar thing happened to me..but in 2nd eyar Imyself started the Eco Club,and did lots of things to promote the club,.. earlier years students didnt joined it..but i started many initiatives, and conducted many events... then I got 75 registrations, and tehy were increasing till session ends... I was awared "ENVIRONMENT Conservator" by our college. Now, our Environemt Society is one of the active society "Paritantra"in our college

Amogh - you could also organise a bird watching trip close to your area.. thats a good way to get things moving. I did a birdwatching event in my own neighbourhood.. got the kids involved.. showed them photos of the birds that visit the area and then we went looking for them...
