Earth Matters

Save mother earth!

Most of us buy products as we need them for our requirements, but many buy just to be competetive in this rat race to buy more fashionable products. We discuss to reduce the use of plastics and recycle them, why can't we just give a second thought to the whole concept of Corporate induced "consumerism". You buy a mp3 player with headphone, then you buy its charger, then you buy its cover, then its stand for table and the car and so on and so forth. So the act of listening to music has given way to the corporates produce so many ancillary things. If we really introspect we find that we perhaps don't need music everytime on the first place. Let it be some moments reserved in a day when you relax in your living/bed room. This apart from being an environment issue is a quite relevant social issue of today's times. We need to be more rooted to our ways of living and not swayed by the Western Lifestyle. At the end choice is ours!

Hi This is Praveen here.

Boss I object your idea. Sometimes I think why we are thinking so much about Nature, About environment, Because we want to live a happy and healthy life. Right?? So in the same line we can't avoid the moments where we can live some light moments. Hope you won't mind my comments it's just an open view. Yes we can do some exercise which will reduce the consumption of plastic materials, Like Reusing the Bags for vegetables and house hold items. Making aware our friends and family for reuse and make others to aware for the same.
Thanks for your effort.

Praveen, thanks for the reply i really appreciate your straightforwardness. Well the idea put forth here is that rather than curing an act why can't we prevent it. If we can limit our buying which is largely fuelled by the corporate hype, we can create a better world for ourselves in the social and environmental context. In social context because today we care more of the easy products in the market but conveniently ignores the natural objects in the environment around us. I mean in an attempt to make life easy for ourselves by relying more on the modern gadgets and machines in actuality we have complicated our lives and that is precisely my point. We ignore the total energy consumed in the whole cycle to produce a product which we go ahead and buys. Rather than adapting ourselves to the environment we have forcibly made our environment adapt to us, which is not a desired thing. For light moments one is free to enjoy and spend , but it should not be due to social obligations or in an attempt to be more " fashionable" ! And definetly we are not thinking too much about nature as we have actually consumed most of the earth's scarced resources and the need is to take structured social and economic transformations to save them for future consumption. Comments welcome.

Sweet Plant - Stevia

There's a new kid on the block (well, kind-of new to some of us anyway) ... stevia. This intriguing sweetener is ages old in some parts of the world – mostly South America and China, but relatively new in the U.S. It has no calories, no nothing that can harm you, even if you have diabetes. It is not processed like high-fructose corn syrup or agave nectar, and the final sweetener is totally unharmed in the extracting process.

It is made from a shrub that is relatively easy to grow – that grew to…
