I love this urgent and noble effort to make every body aware of their individual as well as combined responsibility to save our earth.

sir , all the episode are memorable... only thing is that it should also feature some info about workshops and voluntary work related to conservation in which students like me can participate during free time or holidays. we are all trying to contribute our bit by managing the resources but only direct interaction with nature can create love for its wonders and give us new ideas to save it..conservation can be done only if each and every one is a part of it. i am looking forward to a earthmatters camp where people from all stratas of the society can come together to teach and learn that earth matters....

How come bursting of crackers during Diwali routinely come in for scrutiny? After all Diwali comes once a year and bursting of crackers has traditionally been an essential part of Diwali festivities. How many of the affluent/middle class citizens even consider to think about the vehicular pollution they themselves create round the year by driving diesel personal vehicles, while waxing eloquent about pollution created by firecrackers on Diwali day?

Although my family prefers the anars and charkis and similar 'light' emitting firecrackers by choice, I would not want to rob the ones who like to bursting crackers of the fun for a day. But yes, the adults in the family should take the responsibility that the crackers are burst only under their supervision, and give due respect to the difficulties for the elderly and asthmatic neighbours.

Diwali certainly does not mean making noise. Actually it is a festival of light and sharing and comaraderie and the whole spirit gets lost in this deafening noise. At least let us identify a common ground where you can burst crackers (for those Diwali means crackers!!) so that people in two wheelers and pedestrians can walk safely. Already our roads are not very safe with potholes and slush due to Diwali rains - adding to this these crackers make you jittery and it prevents you from visiting your friends and relatives. Let us spread the light of friendship and not make accidents .We Indians are fond of noise in one form or the other. Either we play records at the drop of the hat or burst crackers in the name of Diwali
1. The most important of which is that it causes air polution. Today, we are forced to breath poor quality of air due to the air polution that already exists. In addition, we are already going through a phase of severe Oxygen crisis. In most cities and thickly populated areas, the Oxygen level in the air is reported to have come down to even 15% from the normal 21%. Scientists believe that, at 7% Oxygen level, people will start dying. A recent study shows that most of the health problems, we face today are due to the poor quality of air we breath. In cities like Tokyo and Newyork Oxygen cans have already started to be sold and people are carrying the same (like we carry water bottles)so as to be able to face any eventuality of Oxygen shortage. In this scenario, will it be wise to add to the polution level by using crackers and other fire works which causes air polution?

2. Crackers are a source of noise polution too, which many people cann't bear. My wife can not bear even a slightest noise. There are old and sick people too, for whom noise will be disturbing.

3. It's a wastage of money which otherwise could be used for fruitful purposes or in solving many problems of the society, the list of which is un ending in our country.

Why can't an agrarian economy cannot be devoloped???

coz environmental conditions & govt. policies are not favourable for farmers in india most of the time.....we wasted lots of agricultural land for the sake of industrial development & SEZ.

for vehicle users!!

i think.....we contribute ...by not using our motor vehicle....... for one day of the week.........!

we saw that, at the time of truck & local auto riksaw strick............pollution level is decrease, which is very helpfull for enviroment.

so lets try...........!

Why can't an agrarian economy cannot be devoloped???

We are counted amongst the economies based on agriculture. And this is in real sense our point of progress. All developed nations have capitalist economy. Why Can't any developed ecomomy be agrarian???

Everyone has their own duty to protect the Mother Earth

We always see people criticising the Government and the society for not taking proper steps to protect our mother Earth. But, they fail to realise that they are infact the part of the society they criticise and in democratic nations like India, people themselves elect the Government.
So, it is obvious that everyone, either directly or indirectly is responsible for the present environmental hazards faced by the world today.

I'd like to suggest the following steps which everyone can follow to pro…
