coz environmental conditions & govt. policies are not favourable for farmers in india most of the time.....we wasted lots of agricultural land for the sake of industrial development & SEZ.

But,, Indian govt. stress more on agriculture and even makes policies in favour of farmers. India has a monsoon climatic conditions which are most suitable for agriculture..!! All these factor indicates India has good control over its agiculture and also that a large part of its income comes from agrcultural sector. Then why it cannot become a developed nation with agririan economy???

An Agrarian economy too can become a developed economy provided the cultivation is done efficiently and on scientific lines. The problems faced by most of the agrarian economies are disguised unemployment, unscientific cultivation, over dependence on rainfall...etc, which is very much evident in case of India.

We cannot rule out the possibility of an agrarian economy becoming developed.here we must understand the difference between economic growth and economic development.Development means better standard of living, low levels of poverty, inequality, better per capita income..etc and not mere economic growth which means increase in per capita income only.

In case of India, India cannot become a developed country with its agrarian status because of the pressure of the population . Actually we need only 1/3rd of the population in agriculture to ensure food security in the country. The rest 2/3rd can engage in other activities like manufacturing,services..etc.In India at the present more than 60% of the population are engaged in primary sector activities but contributes only 17.8% of the GDP.This is because of the presence of disguised unemployment and high population pressure on cultivable land ...etc leading to congestion, negative externality, decrease in productivity...etc

Economic development in case of India is possible only when it involves a steady decline in the share of population engaged in agriculture and an increase in the share of population in industries, trade, banking, construction, services..etc. ie. a change in the economic and occupational structure. This can lead to improvement in skills and productivity in all the sectors and reduce pressure on land.

Wel that was Tomas Jefferson's dream, at least for the United States. In fact, here in America we do grow far more crops than are ever actually consumed. Most is fed as grains to animals in factory farms. This is somewhat ironic because despite the massive food production only 3% of the population actually works in agriculture. It's become so mechanized that very few people can actually produce massive amounts of food. It has put a lot of farmers out of business as gigantic corporations with massive farms have taken over.

Exhibit of wild animals in Advertisements

In India many advertisers use wild animals on national TV to enthuse the audience. Is it not a crime? The use of animal gives a wrong signal to the viewers who consider animals to be for the entertainment of the masses. Already we are seeing a uncontrollable perilous environmental degradation from all quarters. Is it not high time that the govt curb the usage of animals in advt.

my son's interest in environment

It is very heartening to see enthusiastic parents like you who want to imbibe love for nature in their child.
As a child I think Salman can learn about the flora and fauna ( avian ) in and around his environment and in out country.
Once he starts learning, he will start appreciating the beauty of nature. As he grows old he will understand the environmental degradation caused by the greed of humans. Hopefully he will guide other youngsters to appreciate the beauty of nature.

Help us

...this year we collected 16000 plus garbage bags from Valley of Flowers and Shri Hemkund Sahib trek route and deposit all those near a collection point near Govind Ghat. We have to carry all that plastic garbage for recycling via motor road up to Dehradun, but we have no funds for that as we need at least 20 trucks to carry all the garbage. No body either so called Delhi based Kurta-Dhari Environists or Uttarakhand Govt. coming forward to help us. I know there are so many nature lovers bergeoni…
