School Level awareness

HI all
Im basically from Pune working for geospatial services.
have been working for children as dramatics teacher since 3 years.
Would like to start an enviro awareness programms bye going to each school and give the presentation(slide shows) for topics such as Global warming, water pollution in city, hill tree saving programms..
Can anybody suggest any supporting institutes in Pune or around.

Hi.. Great idea and initiative.I dont know any in Pune, but i am certain there will be some there. Earth Matters Foundation does excatly this sort of awareness generating work through films. You could volunteer with EMF and organise an event.

thanks a lot.. looking for more help... want some good pdfs and ppts preparing for Global warming awareness .. Could you suggest any book or site which would probably help to build up the behind infrastructure for purpose.

hi.. we are making a film on e waste. infact its an animated film so it'll work well with kids. once it is done will send you a copy. the idea is to create awareness and give a more responsible option.

will look into our resources to see if we have nay ready PDF's or PPT's.

Right now vacation is going on for children. Schools might be getting started in June. This time gap would probably help me to generate a good qualitative infra fro establishing enviro-awareness programme.

Great idea... Some good books are - 'Plan B' by Lester Brown ; publications like Down to Earth
The films - An Inconvenient Truth, The 11th Hour, Shores of Silence, The Last March
The CSE website is also a good place... - www.cseindia.org, http://indiaenvironmentportal.org.in/

You could get some good information for your presentations from these place... and these could lead you to other links and books!

Will ask around about instituitions that are interested, you could check with BNHS - which I think has its headquarters in Mumbai, otherwise, you could form an Earth Matters Nature Club, where you can encourage others like you to be a part of this campaign and generate awareness in various schools and colleges...
I'm sure Earth Matters Foundation will be able to provide support in many ways!!!

I really appriciate your initiative. Educating kids an youth is the need of hour as they can really take some steps in conserving nature. Please visit The climate Project (TCP) site and look into the resources link, you will find ppts which can be directly used. TCP is Al gores initiative for mass awareness. I shall be visiting Pune to conduct Environment Education Programme in Army School after summer vaction is over. You can join in to know this can be done. AS suggested by Yuvika, BNHS doen't have any ready made ppt for public use but do visit www.bnhs.org for information on nature conservation. BNHS is working more towards wildlife conservation rather then climate change. Please feel free to contact. Also join EMF as volunteer and organise a program with them

I would like to address thoughts regarding global warming awareness vs. wildlife conservation, as it seems in general the public see these as disconnected matters. Of course some will concentrate on one as opposed to the other. But, I don't believe there is a separation between the two. This is a quote of a Native American Chief, from long ago-

"Humankind has not woven the web of life. But we are one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together, all things connect" -- Seattle, Squamish Chief

My own belief system is that humans need to go back to nature to relearn how to balance their lives with the needs of all beings. Whatever humans can do to restore balance of the habitat needs of wildlife will restore balance for the planet. If we are looking at technology I don't believe it is just industry that is the problem. Also, people have not been looking at the extensive electro magnetic frequencies being emitted by use of satellites that orbit around the planet. But, if we considered the needs of the earth, and the wildlife we would be thinking in terms of balance, I believe.

There are many nature programs to teach children the ways of nature. Then they will have nature tell them what their needs are directly. I do not know if there are any of these where you live Akshay. But, they are wonderful and children adore it. I can try to find out more, if you are interested.

though i have taken the initiative, obstacles are coming in front of that..
for now i m increasing the contact levels and collecting the best material on environment.
You must be knowing about the Vasundhara festival helding in amaratvati stating from 16th july....

Can i have your contact no, cause right now im the only one person from this side.. we can meet up and
decide what to do exactly at school level.
