Save mother earth!

R Vijayasarathy

Everyone has their own duty to protect the Mother Earth

We always see people criticising the Government and the society for not taking proper steps to protect our mother Earth. But, they fail to realise that they are infact the part of the society they criticise and in democratic nations like India, people themselves elect the Government.
So, it is obvious that everyone, either directly or indirectly is responsible for the present environmental hazards faced by the world today.

I'd like to suggest the following steps which everyone can follow to protect our Earth.

1. Try to minimise the use of plastics to the maximum extent possible.
2. Avoid burning substances like Plastics, Rubbers etc.. which produces hazardous gases on combustion.
3. If possible, especially people living in villages or suburban areas, try to plant and maintain as many saplings as possible. A mention needs here that trees may need our attention for hardly 5 to 6 years and after that, they take care of themselves.

4. Try to create awareness about the need for protection of the Earth among your neighbours and friends, children and other persons you meet.

Yes, it's true that governments and corporations ought to be held accountable, but in the end it is we the people who must change this World for the better. If near 7 billion people cannot get things changed, nothing can.

Exhibit of wild animals in Advertisements

In India many advertisers use wild animals on national TV to enthuse the audience. Is it not a crime? The use of animal gives a wrong signal to the viewers who consider animals to be for the entertainment of the masses. Already we are seeing a uncontrollable perilous environmental degradation from all quarters. Is it not high time that the govt curb the usage of animals in advt.

my son's interest in environment

It is very heartening to see enthusiastic parents like you who want to imbibe love for nature in their child.
As a child I think Salman can learn about the flora and fauna ( avian ) in and around his environment and in out country.
Once he starts learning, he will start appreciating the beauty of nature. As he grows old he will understand the environmental degradation caused by the greed of humans. Hopefully he will guide other youngsters to appreciate the beauty of nature.
