Hello, there is my son’s b’day on coming 19th July. Beside my regular plantation I want to plant at least 15 trees on his school’s ground. For the purpose I have talked to his school’s principle and he is very co-operative for it. Thanks to him.

Congrates folks...I could manage to plant a Temerind Tree (In a park next to Sri Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Sector 56, Noida) on my B'Day today. The temple head priest refused to plant the sapling inside the temple premises due to some religious restrictions.
He was spellbound over why and what may come as harm after planting a Temerind tree !!
Well finally the plant has successfully been planted. You may have a look....

Wow....this is great. This idea of planting FRUITFUL trees on ones b'day (atleast) has become a big hit in my friend circle. Just last week few volunteered to plant 17(all fruiting) plants in Rajat Vihar, Sec62 noida. We are given permission to convert a large piece of stray land (same society) into a tree rich park. Wish us luck and provide us with your suggestions so that we may finally do it.

Great response to the planting idea! Its archaic thinking like the priests that keeps our country in the dark ages. how can planting a tree be against any religion in the world!! absurd!

planting is great.. but the after care is extremely important. Of the 10 trees we planted, 2 havent survived.. and have been replaced with new trees. also i noticed some trees are more hardy and can do without water for a few days, but some need watering everyday.

Its just great idea...I will surely plant trees on my birthday....sure..Will also tell my relatives and friends to do so...

Thanks Samidha, Yash and Ashwini for positive response to this campaign.
Yes Gautam, you are right. I have already said many times that planting trees are very good but after care is also necessary. We should confirm this care after every plantation. So I want to say all of you that plant more and more trees but don’t forget after care. Well wishes for your plantation.

Hi Friends...

Its been one long year when we commited together to plant at least one sapling on our Birth Days. Its great to inform you that this year too I kept my word. On this 19th july I've planted a Neem.

Unfortunately its hard to find fruiting tree saplings over nurseries. Most of those available are like guava, papaya, pomegranate etc. eucalyptus I generally do not prefer. Well finally I got a Neem Sapling at a nursery beside Delhi-Hapur Bypass NH24. This well grown plant costed me Rs 70.

Mr. Gupta living at B23, sector 55,Noida maintain a piece of government land in front of his house. Its beautifully maintained wilh a good variety of plants and trees.

As he already had few Neem trees here in, it was hard to convince for another one. Actually I knew he is a good gardener and would not allow plant to die once planted in his area. We finally we succeeded.

By the way 12-14 out of 17 plants we planted last year at Rajat Vihar, Noida are alive and growing. But unfortunately the one I planted on my B'day last year in a local park (coz a priest didn't allow me plant a tamarind plant inside the temple- A SOUR FRUIT PLANT CAN NOT BE ALLOWED !!) has perished.

Hope others too are busy painting the planet GREEN !!

All the best !!

excellent sushant!! So good to see you so commited to the cause! :)

we've begun Hands for Trees as you might know aready from the posts on Ning. We are focusing on schools and residential areas with Maali's to increase the chances of the saplings surviving.

Great to hear that most of the saplings you planted last year have survived!

Sweet Plant - Stevia

There's a new kid on the block (well, kind-of new to some of us anyway) ... stevia. This intriguing sweetener is ages old in some parts of the world – mostly South America and China, but relatively new in the U.S. It has no calories, no nothing that can harm you, even if you have diabetes. It is not processed like high-fructose corn syrup or agave nectar, and the final sweetener is totally unharmed in the extracting process.

It is made from a shrub that is relatively easy to grow – that grew to…
